Bryce National Park
Bryce National Park.
Once upon a time the world was a story waiting to be told. Nature began to carve and chisel. It built slowly here, faster there. It began to assemble a creation of mythical shapes using its imagination to unlock what lay beneath. Shaping and smoothing, the raw earth was sculpted into detailed magnificent icons and relics.
The result is a visual feast of hoodoos, spires, fins, slots, windows, posts, holes, arches, balanced rocks and bridges.
Canyons, gulches, wadis, puddles and pools. Caves, grottos, overhangs, tunnels, rills, streams and waterfalls.
Uplifted plains, faulted, hewn into cliffs. Exposing stratification and lamination. Displaying cross beds and ancient dunes in the sandstone. Leaving behind the rubble of a sculptor, rockfalls, boulders, rocks, gravel sediments and sand.
Built by shattering stone and cracking cliffs. Smoothing, shaping the sediments. The master's tools of water, ice and heat, blowing wind, and dissolution.
Colored with Iron and Magnesium.
Bristle cones, pines and ponderosa, with their roots cast out across the raw earth to anchor solidly in the soil.
Drizzle, rain, sunshine and rainbows.
Once upon a time the story became a fairyland. An amphitheater of geological terms. A playground marked with twisted trails. Statues of carved stone, an outdoor sculpture park. Castle walls and cathedrals. Legions of tall soldiers waiting below. A view looking out at a forest sea and mystical mountains shrouded in clouds. Bryce National Park.
