Arches National Park
Located in Utah, around you are hundreds of arches, fins and incredible panoramic scenery. But just like a good book, these tell a story of 300-million-year-old seas trapped to precipitate gypsums and salts and then buried under 10000 feet of silt and sandstones. Eventually lifted above sea level to crack forming fins, and experienced the evitable weathering, chiseling the sides until breaking through to form arches and the occasional balanced rock. The Landscape is crafted into cathedrals of rock, into which you wander. Slot canyons, alcoves and wadi’s or dry stream beds that fill when the rainstorms sweep across the arid sands.
