Terre
Terre or Earth. The dark brown and black color of the mountains surrounded by red laterite soils. Emerging from the ocean floor, the once molten lavas carried the liquid magma upwards to cool and form the iconic crater rims towering above the surrounding blue waters. Slowly but inexorably eroding minerals in the rocks breakdown to yield the rich volcanic soils that give life to the bird of paradise, hibicus flowers and lush green of the islands of Tahiti, Bora bora, Tahaa, Raiatea, Huahine and Moorea. Sugar cane, vanilla orchids and pineapples grow abundantly providing agricultural bounty. Cascading rains from the clouds yield waterfalls that become streams and rivers irrigating the land. Green, blacks and red highlighted by the azure waters that deepen to deep blue. Terre or earth provides a contrasting multitude of the color palette to delight the eye.
